SUMMER INTENSIVE COURSES - IN CARLTON AND ONLINE

When? Week 1: 17-21 January 2022  and Week 2: 24-28 January 2022 (no classes on Australia Day)

What will I learn in one or two weeks of the intensive course?

BEGINNER

-Available ONLY in week 1 face to face from 10 am to 1 pm and online from 6 pm to 9 pm

You will learn how to introduce yourself and others, talk about where you are from, describe yourself and others, order food and drinks in a café, book a hotel room and talk about leisure activities. The main grammar topics covered are gender and number of nouns, articles and adjectives, irregular verbs essere (to be) and avere (to have), regular -are verbs, idiomatic expressions with verb avere (to have).

POST BEGINNER (week 1 and week 2)

Available:

- Week 1: face to face from 10am to 1pm and online from 6pm to 9pm

- Week 2: online from 5.30pm to 9pm

Topic: Scopriamo le regioni italiane! (Let's discover the Italian Regions!)

Grammar: revision of the verbs essere and avere, regular verbs -are, -ere and -ire, the difference between giocare and suonare, possessive adjectives, irregular verbs fare and andare + prepositions, modal verbs (volere, dovere, potere), the verb piacere (to like).

Vocabulary&Communication: the weather, the weekdays, months and seasons, the different parts of the days and the meals.

LOWER INTERMEDIATE

Available:

- Week 1: face to face from 10am to 1pm  

- Week 2: face to face from 10am to 1.30pm and online from 5.30pm to 9pm

Week 1 - Topic: Scopriamo le regioni italiane! (Let's discover the Italian Regions!)

Grammar: The use of SI (impersonal form), the possessive adjectives, the verb piacere (to like), other verbs to express preferences, modal verbs + the verb sapere, the verb piacere with possessive adjectives related to the family 

Vocabulary&Communication: some geography and natural elements, the weather, how to give directions on the street, means of transport.

 

Week 2 - Topic: Le feste italiane! (The Italian celebrations)

Grammar: The use of the passato prossimo and imperfetto, the use of molto in its different forms. 

Vocabulary&Communication: public holidays in Italy and Australia, traditional celebrations in Italy and their symbols.

 

INTERMEDIATE

Available:

- Week 1: face to face and online from 10am to 1pm

- Week 2: face to face and online from 10am to 1:30pm

Week 1 - Topic: Scopriamo le regioni Italiane! (Let's discover the Italian regions)

Grammar: Imperative (formal and informal), direct pronouns, prepositions and the use of CI. 

Vocabulary&Communication: The weather, some geographical elements, how to give directions on the street, Italian touristic attractions, accommodations.

 

Week 2 - Topic: Le feste italiane! (The Italian celebrations!)

Grammar: Future tenses (futuro semplice and futuro anteriore), the use of NE, prepositions. 

Vocabulary&Communication: Traditional celebrations in Italy and their symbols.

 

UPPER INTERMEDIATE

Available:

- Week 1: face to face from 10am to 1pm

- Week 2: face to face from 10am to 1:30pm 

Week 1 - Topic: Scopriamo le regioni italiane! (Let's discover the Italian regions!)

Grammar: Full revision of the compound tenses with a focus on the use of the auxiliary essere and avere.

Vocabulary&Communication: Italian geography, destinations, points of interest. 

 

Week 2 - Topic: Le feste italiane! (The Italian celebrations!)

Grammar: The passive form and the adverbs.

Vocabulary&Communication: Traditional celebrations in Italy and their symbols.
